Many students first encounter college essays during senior year. But writing development actually starts earlier — when students begin asking themselves: what comes next for my ideas, interests, and experiences?


In this live session with time for Q&A, college mentor Mindi Trimble and writing coach Lyn Fairchild Hawks introduce the Common App and UC prompts, explore writing contests like the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, and show how one piece of thoughtful writing can sometimes serve multiple purposes.
